We are just a few blocks to the eat out street, Beaumont St. It has 68 cafes, restaurants, pubs and take away outlets. You know you'll have a great night out when you know that silverchair and The Screaming Jets often played in venues along this street. Free live music venues 7 nights a week, and often international bands are playing as well.
Blackbutt Reserve occupies approximately 182 hectares of land in the middle of Newcastle. In many parts of the reserve it is possible to stand in complete silence, unaware of the busy metropolis nearby. Blackbutt Reserve still contains the remnants of a rainforest pocket in the sheltered valley beneath the lookout ecarpment. In the viewing area visitors can see eye to eye with the koalas, kangaroos, wallabies and birds.
Make sure to combine your visit with an "Encounter", where koalas and wombats are fed, and for just $3 you can have a picture taken with these cuddly creatures. Happens daily at 2pm
